Tommy Ellis was a beloved member of his community. He coached wrestling, football and even his daughter’s softball team, and he was a mentor to every student he met. When a kid needed help, he was there, helping them pursue higher education and even giving them the shoes off his feet. In keeping with that caring nature, Tommy was a registered organ donor. When he tragically died, his family honored that wish, and he saved six lives through organ donation and healed dozens of others thanks to tissue and cornea donation.

“He was an incredible man who has left a lasting legacy. That legacy includes the life-saving gift of organ donation,” said his wife, Stephanie.
Stephanie shared her thanks for the hospital staff, Gift of Life team and the incredible community who supported the family when Tom passed. Hundreds gathered at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, lining the hallways and wrapping around the building to honor Tom, with some of the athletes he mentored even running after the ambulance as he was transferred to the Donor Care Center.
Stephanie continues to keep Tommy’s legacy alive through the Tommy Ellis Memorial Foundation, supporting local athletes, families and sports programs. She is also working on a book and documentary about Tommy’s story.
Tom left an incredible legacy. You can too. Register as an organ donor at donors1.org/register.
