James H. Dent

I met Jim, the most remarkable person I have ever known, when we were students in 5th grade. Instantly, I knew that some day this handsome, curly haired, gorgeous, smiling fella would be my life's companion. And that became true in 1965.

We relocated to Virginia so that Jim could complete his Marine Corp enlistment. After his honorable discharge, he became a Fairfax County, VA police officer. During the ensuing years, we raised two beautiful children, a son and a daughter, housed troubled youths and devoted time to various community and church activities. After twenty years of law enforcement, Jim retired from his police work, as a highly decorated and admired officer.

Jim and I returned to our Pennsylvania "roots" to be near our families. But Jim was not content to be away from community service. And so he became Chief Deputy Sheriff for Columbia County and later a PA Dog Law Enforcement Officer.

Jim's life was devoted to serving and helping his fellow man. But above all else, he was the epitome of an honest man, a loyal friend, cherished husband, beloved father, and grandfather. Jim's sudden loss of life has left a gaping hole in so many lives. But I also know that he lives on in our hearts and as our guardian angel. For you see, Jim has touched the face of God.

Semper fi, dear one,

Rosanne
