September 25, 1945 to June 11, 2006
Born at home in Lebanon County on September 25, 1945 to Donald Eugene Kreiser and Eleanor Heagy Kreiser. He was baptized in the church of the Nazarene in Ephrata, PA in 1974. In addition to himself there were two sisters, Gloria and Carlene along with two brothers, Eugene and Bruce. Even though he was born in Lebanon County he was raised in Manheim, Lancaster County. Growing up in Dutch Country, he spent his teenage years working on local farms. As an adult, he became a professional truck driver, which he did for 40 years. He enjoyed both the road travels as well as local deliveries.
February 1, 1964, he married his true love, Carol Brightbill. Together they raised four children, Annette Fay Kreiser-Wannmaker who currently resides in McCaskill, AR, James Douglas Kresier from Lebanon, PA, Christine Lee Kreiser-Tobias from Lebanon, PA and Angela Kay Kreiser-Wells of Middletown, PA. He was a beloved Pappy go ten grandchildren.
Douglas, as a truck driver was able to see many parts of the country and was excited about living in different areas. Some of the places his family lived included Colorado, Massachusetts, and Arkansas. His true roots were in Pennsylvania where he always returned. His greatest joy was his family. He also enjoyed listening to Gospel and Country Music. One of his favorite places to go was the Frystown Truck Stop, where he was known by name.
In 2001 events in his life started a chain reaction, which altered his and his family’s lives. Due to a work related injury and diabetes; he lost his right leg that ended his trucking career. After 5 years of deteriorating health, which included heart disease, he was taken down by a stroke. Even though the stroke took his life, which was devastating for his family, they were comforted in knowing that he then became a Gift of Life Donor.
He will always be loved and deeply missed by his family. Even though he is gone we all know that one day we will meet again.
