This quilt square’s a memory of the many things Dennis loved doing. Having fun, being goofy, while still a caring, loving family man. A husband, father, brother, uncle, pop-pop and friend to many. Dennis loved working on cars, getting his hands dirty with his wife and kids. Dennis left behind a wife, three children, three grandchildren, and puppy dogs. After he and his wife became empty-nesters they decided on travelling more, their favorite place to travel was Skyline Drive, traveling the mountaintops. He loved camping, fishing, attending classic car shows and annual events with his family.
While he was taken far too early, the day we got that phone call from Gift of Life there was no doubt that we could say no, we knew he could help others while living in our hearts. Those who knew him, knew that he would help anyone, give them the shirt off his back, even give his last dollar in his pocket to a complete stranger.
“My Dad”
I know this man
Who is dear to my heart
Suddenly one day
It was torn all apart
This man taught me everything
That I needed to know
But I never really listened
Until he had to go
He gave me love
And touched my life
It’s all over now
He no longer has to fight
He tried to teach me
Right for wrong
The day he left
I wasn’t that strong
He is gone now
It is hard to believe
This man is my dad
Who I will never see
But I will see him again
This I know
The day will come
When it’s time for me to go
So I’ll hold him dear
And close to my heart
Cause the day we meet
I know we’ll never be torn apart.
