After Organ and Tissue Donation

Every day in our region, families faced with the death of a loved one are able to look beyond their tragedies to save and improve with lives of others through organ and tissue donation. Making the decision to donate is a life-changing act for families. In this section, you will find information about the process and support offered to you and your family as you navigate this new reality.

Wrapped In Hugs

Gift of Life was inspired by the 2010 US Transplant Games, where all donor families present received a hand-knitted or crocheted wrap at the National Donor Recognition Ceremony. Gift of Life Donor Program would like to do the same at our local ceremonies, and we welcome volunteers to participate in creating wraps for a great cause.

Gift of Life Family House

Thousands of patients come to Philadelphia hospitals every year needing life-saving organ transplants. Many come from out of state or travel great distances. Family House will provide critically needed support programs and temporary lodging for organ transplant patients and their families.

Writing to Your Donor's Family

As a transplant recipient, you have the opportunity to write to the family of your donor. Many patients write to share information about their progress and their renewed lives, but all reach out to express their gratitude and to say "thanks."

How to Volunteer

Volunteers are the driving force behind Gift of Life Donor Program's community outreach and education efforts.

In the News

Every member of Team Philadelphia has a unique story to tell. And we welcome any opportunity we have to tell that story to local newspapers, television stations and radio programs.
