Young transplant patients from A.I. duPont Hospital for Children compete in bowling in the 2010 U.S. Transplant Games.
Over the course of four days, transplant recipients and living donors are invited to compete in Olympic style events against athletes from across the country. Other special events are organized for donor family members, living donors and transplant professionals.
Team Philadelphia is always one of the largest and most decorated teams in the nation, taking home 129 medals at the 2010 U.S. Transplant Games.
Transplant recipients from all age groups and skill levels compete in track and field, bowling, swimming, table tennis, badminton, racquetball, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. There are also some events for living organ donors to compete against other people from across the country who have given the gift of life.
The mission of Team Philadelphia is to showcase the success of transplantation, promote the importance of registering as an organ and tissue donor, and honor those who have given the gift of life.
