Reginald Olvier Harvey II

Reginald "Reggie" Oliver Harvey II of Chester, a longtime resident of Swarthmore, died November 20 at his home. He was 57.

A 1965 graduate of Swarthmore High School, Reggie attended Wilmington College in Ohio, where he was active in theatre. He also attended Cheyney University. While at Cheyney, he became a member of The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. His academic emphasis was Human Services. After college he worked for IBM in Burlington, Vermont. However, his compassion for helping others led him to positions in social work in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, New York and Chester, Pennsylvania.

Reggie had many interests. He enjoyed graphic arts and was an audiophile. He was a freelance writer for several newspapers and magazines. He enjoyed interviewing various actors and musicians, most memorably James Earl Jones and Stevie Wonder.

Reggie found solace in his association with the Way Thru Christ Ministry.

Predeceased by his father, Dr. Reginald O. Harvey, Reggie is survived by his loving mother Lee E. Harvey of West Chester, formerly of Swarthmore and siblings, LeRoy Harvey and his spouse Maxine of Willingboro, NJ, Robert B. Harvey and his spouse Linda of Long Neck, DE, Bonnie Lee (Harvey) Elliot of West Chester, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
