"Threads of Love" Donor Memorial Quilt: Quilt 19

Dorothy Yalch

On November 8, 2008, mom and dad were on their way to do another good deed. As usual, most of their time was spent together and often involved doing something to help someone else. They met in the fourth grade and started to date in junior high school. They went through high school and college together and married shortly thereafter. They were married for 49 years. They would go grocery shopping together, to the mall, to the post office - dad would even drive mom to church for bell choir practice and sit and wait for her. They were nearly inseparable.

On this very sad day, we lost both of our parents to a tragic automobile accident. Although it has twice as hard losing both parents so suddenly, we believe that God did them a favor by taking them together. We honestly do not know how either of them would have survived without the other.

Mom loved flowers - in particular stargazer lilies. Since butterflies are often found around beautiful flowers, we felt that the flower would represent mom and the butterfly close by would represent dad.

We will never stop loving them and missing them. Even though they are no longer physically with us, their presence lives on - not only in our lives but the two lives that were touched by the precious gift of sight given through the donation of mom's corneas.

Gone but never forgotten!

Love,

Joe and Missy
