Cosme Manzarbeitia, MD, is Director of Transplantation at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Dr. Manzarbeitia is also a former Chairman of Gift of Life's Board of Directors. Dr. Manzarbeitia has a passion for hepatobiliary and transplant surgery. His research Interests include graft survival, immunosuppressant drugs, early markers for organ rejection, hepatocellular carcinoma and other malignancies in patients after transplantation, among others. He earned a Medical Degree in 1982 from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in Spain, and received post-doctoral training and a surgical residency at North General Hospital (a Mount Sinai Medical Center training program) in New York City. He had an ASTS fellowship in multi-organ transplantation at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Manzarbeitia received Philadelphia magazine's Top Doctor Award in 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2007, and the American Liver Foundation's Transplant Surgeon of the Year Award in 2001.
